- This book is about a woman whose father is arrested as a notorious serial killer when she is 14 years old. She becomes a profiler with the FUN but is dogged by her past and anger from some people who believe she and her mother had to know about her father's murders and could have stopped him. In this book someone is trying to punish her by giving her to clues to murders he is committing while challenging her to figure it out in time. The problem with the book is lengthy diversions to discuss her new found faith in God. I am ok with characters living their faith as part of the story but not with interruptions in the plot for lectures. This is the second "inspirational" book I have accidentally purchased and wished they were Berger labeled to avoid to avoid this annoyance. If you don't mind several inconvenient lectures about religion, you might give it 5 stars.
- What a fantastic, gripping and mysterious tale that comes from the pen of Nancy Mehl! Before I continue let me share with you that book two of the series titled, Firestorm, comes out August 2019 and I can hardly wait!
Kaely Quinn is a behavioral analyst for the FBI. The way she does this will really grab your attention! What is even more gripping is the character’s history and how her fellow FBI agents treat her. Kaely lives only for justice to be served, but someone is stalking her. The whole time I was reading the book I kept wondering who was after her and what part of her memory wouldn’t let her remember whatever it is that the stalker thinks she knows.
When Kaely is assigned to work with another FBI agent, she about has a fit but must decide to either deal with the new assignment or resign. The man assigned to her doesn’t want her for a partner either but again has no choice. The case they are working together is proving extremely dangerous and the subject is always one step ahead of the agents.
I was captured by the story from the first page until the very end! It’s suspense, thrills and danger with mystery in the background. I kept trying to figure it out, but the author does an excellent job of throwing in some curves that made me rethink my conclusions a couple of times. So, if you like mystery with a possible long shot at romance, here is your next book to enjoy! - I was surprised to see that this author has written (and I'm presuming) actually sold twenty-five books. Her writing is so stilted, her dialogue so forced, her characters so cardboard, it's amazing how it's received so many 5 star reviews on . This is no Louise Penny or Nicci French or Tana French. This is simply plot thrown onto a page with little skill and less than superficial regard for nuances or the intelligence of the reader. I waded through four chapters before giving up entirely. If this is how the FBI works, God help us all.
- This was definitely a 5-star suspense read—had me staying up late to find out who the killer was. I enjoyed the light hook at the end and the way things were wrapped up. I did guess the killer, but mostly because I write mysteries and I know there’s a limited suspect pool. It was cleverly written so that the final showdown scene had maximum impact. Excellent book—one I bought based on reading a sample online—and I will be buying (and loaning out and recommending!) other books in this series!!!

- I can't wait for the next one in the series. I normally figure out who a killer is early on in a book, but I did not in this one, until the very end. The conflicts, struggles, and challenges the characters went through as they investigated a string of murders, including the last one planned against the main character, were spot on. It was also great to have a wonderful mystery that didn't need to resort to lurid sex scenes or foul language to tell a story. Bravo!
- This is the first book by Nancy Mehl that I've read but it won't be the last. Mehl creates believable characters and a page-turner novel. Kaely Quinn is an talented profiler, even though her methods are a bit unorthodox. As the daughter of a infamous serial killer, her desire to stop killers is strong and unstoppable. When an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders ending with Quinn's, surfaces, the department is worried about her safety but she is unconcerned. When a body is found whose cause of death matches that described in the first verse of the poem, even Quinn must admit the danger is real. She is partnered with Agent Noah Hunter and the investigation intensifies. Quinn and Hunter must catch the killer before there are other murders, including Kealy's
I highly recommend this book to any lover of suspense novels. - Kaely part as a profiler was interesting of the techniques she uses. One wonders if you could read people by some of their gestures.
I do read Christian Suspense, some didn’t fit in to that part of dialog, some too long.
Plot was interesting, felt I should have taken notes of each person she associated with per something in the poem, then changed to another suspect. Too many and got repetitious for me
I have read almost all of hers, and this was not a favorite, and found hard to keep my interest.
Character of Noah I liked,he was open to learning and was portrayed well
Overall, good, and some will get more into then I did.
